Making Pita pockets!

Today during our practical lesson of cooking we put together pita pockets. We had a choice to include cheese, onion, ham, lettuce, carrot, and tomatoes into our pita pocket bases. My group all decided on including all of the ingredients listed. We started off gathering our ingredients along with our equipment followed by preparing all of the vegetables we were going to use to stuff the pita pockets. The hardest part of making the pita pockets was cutting them open and stuffing them full of ingredients without the bread ripping or cutting the top off. After stuffing them and drizzling sauces into them our final product was complete!  My end result wasn't as pleasing as I had hoped for but it was only split into two pieces so I see that as a win. Because I had to be very delicate when putting in the ingredients I wasn't able to fully stuff the pita pocket so it tasted kinda bland even though the sauces helped with the dry bread. Overall I think I did ok, I and my team worked excellently together and got the job done quickly without too much mess.

Health And Safety!

Hygiene- Hygiene is very important in the classroom as you need to keep you and your surroundings clean so you don't contaminate the food your cooking.

Safety- Saftey is also important as you need to keep yourself safe in your class and around sharp objects. This includes keeping the knife facing down while walking and wearing covered shoes.

Food safety-  Food safety is making sure that the food you are consuming is edible and healthy. As an example keep your raw and cooked foods separate so there is no cross-contamination.

Relationships!

In health, we have been focusing on relationships. Some of the topics we looked at under relationships were healthy and unhealthy relationships. Our task was to first name different people in our lives that we have a relationship with and what type of relationships we have with those people. For example, some of the relationships I have are with my parents, grandparents, and siblings. Afterward, we researched healthy and unhealthy relationships and what it means to be in an unhealthy relationship. After researching what it's like to be in an unhealthy relationship, we looked at what the best thing to do is when you are stuck in an unhealthy relationship. This was a very important lesson as it taught us how to cope when these types of issues happen to us. After learning about relationships we created a slide about relationships, Here is my slide.

The production Line!

During the past few weeks, we have been researching the production line. We started off the project by looking at where the production line was created, followed by why the production line was so successful and why it is used in so many businesses today! For our task, we had to create a presentation teaching people everything about the production line.

Teenage Stories

For this week's two lessons of drama, we have created a performance portraying a story about a teenage issue, that presents a message throughout the performance. Our story was about a teenage girl who wants to follow her dreams and become a photographer whereas her mother wants her to be perfect, therefore forcing her to do writing and studying. Our message that we wanted to get across was to put trust into teenagers and let them follow their dreams. Here is the video of our performance!

Sustainability Reflection!

This term during hurumanu 1, we have been focusing on sustainability This hurumanu has combined the subjects Social studies and mathematics to create our topic Sustainability! We started off watching videos that explain the massive problems that are occurring around the world. Some of the topics that the videos covered were climate change and the COVID19 pandemic. Week two we moved onto the mathematics side of the hurumanu and looked at the statistical inquiry. One of the activities during this section was using the dragonistics data cards to create graphs that displayed the data from the cards. Week three we went back to social studies topics and studied more in-depth about sustainability. Week four we learn about sustainability even further and how to correctly structure an essay. Week five we looked at paragraph and sentence structure to record the information we had researched on sustainability issues. Week six and onwards we switched back to mathematics and focused on Area, population, and calculation, For this all of our activities were on Mathletics. After completing all of our tasks on Mathletics we gathered all the skills we had learned to design our dream house/Bedroom/Property. Our designs were created on the 3D designing system, Tinkercad.

During this hurumanu, we went in-depth about what sustainability was and some of the issues that are destroying our planet. This has a big influence on us to stop ignoring the cry of the planet and wake up to challenges that we must face for the better. During this topic, I learned about issues that I didn't even realize existed. But not only that, the effects that our everyday activities have on not just the environment but people as well. One thing I would have changed is I would have focused more on the mathematics work as I felt like the main star of the show was Social studies.
