Antarctic Animals

A couple of weeks ago we went to the antarctic center and since then we have been studying Antarctica. We to pick one of three topics Weather and climate,Animals and explorers I chose animals because I love animals and want to know about animals in Antarctica. A couple of our activities was to make a antarctic food chain and pick one antarctic animal and write a description about that one animal I chose Cape Petrels that is a bird.We also had to make some type of presentation showing how an animal survives in the cold harsh weather. So as my presentation I made a movie and as my animal I did a penguin.

Cape Petrels 

Frosty flying over the frozen antarctic sea.Cape Petrels is one of the most common antarctic bird and the are also known as the Cape Pigeons.

Cape Petrels are quite long they are 39 cm long and there wingspan is 86 cm. There are a beautiful creature they are brown and white and have cool patterns on their wings.they also have a tail like a fantail. They have a small short black beak but it's really good for hunting for krill.

Cape petrels have a limited feeding because they have to fly to the feeding area and the in full speed go diving into the water to get food.cape petrels get at least 1 minute to get food before they come up for air.Cape petrels feed on krill,small fish and squid.

Cape petrels can also be quite chubby because they have a bit a blubber.blubber keeps them warm so they don’t freeze to death.they also have special feathers and they make the water run right off  them so they don’t have to spend the day cold and wet. They also breed on the rocky areas so that they don't sleep in the cold snow.

I think that Cape petrels are cute and are magic to the world.

Tornadoes

For the last past weeks we have been learning about severe weather and along the line of severe weather we chose a type of severe weather to write about so our class all agreed on Tornadoes.Our first task was to make a Padlet and put all of our facts about Tornadoes.Our second step was to make a plan using a structure of a description. The second to last step was to write our description and then finally I edited it and read through and once I had finished I put it on my blog.

General statement	Tornadoes,fast tube of sinning cloud,touches ground and clouds above.
Description What they look like Tornado alley The effects	white ,Grey,twister,normal wind speed 100 mph ,fastest 300mph eye of the tornado, still calm and silent. Most common place Tornado alley, USA,Texas and Dekoda,hundreds of tornadoes a year,big and small, Destroys anything in its path,houses,cars,trucks cows,barns. Picks up buildings,destroys homes.kill and hurt peoples
Evaluation	I think that  tornadoes are dangerous but incredible because it is incredible that it can destroy every in its path.

Tornadoes

Whhhhhhh Oooooooooo crashhhh! Wow did you know that tornadoes are a fast spinning tube that touches the ground and the clouds above.

White fast forming candy floss approaches the sky. Tornadoes can change colors too light natural colors from what it picks up other wise it is grey. It can form into all kinds of shapes and sizes. When tornadoes turn they curve so it looks like a lightning bolt .

A tornado is a fast spinning carrot cloud.

A tornado is a made of violently rushing air otherwise wind.

A tornado is created by a severe storm.

A tornado is a violent rotating column of air that extends from the ground to the severe thunderstorm above.

Tornado alley is the place most common for tornadoes to be.

Tornado alley is in the USA between  Texas and Dekoda.

Tornado Alley gets hundred and hundreds of tornadoes a year big and small.

Tornadoes are very dangerous and will destroy every thing its path.

Tornadoes are so strong they can pick up cars,trucks,cows,houses,barns.Tornadoes also pick up huge buildings and destroy homes.Tornadoes can kill or critically hurt people.

I think that tornadoes are very dangerous but absolutely incredible because it's  unbelievable  that picks up and destroys everything in it's path.

Expanding Balloon

Yesterday we did science and we got two bottles and put balloons on top of them. And then we put one in a bucket of hot water and the other bottle standing next to the bucket.The bottle in the hot water bucket the balloon on the top of the bottle started to blow up while the one next to it did nothing.Our task was to crate a presentation on what happened.

 

Rotational Symmetry

For the last couple of weeks we have been learning about Rotational Symmetry.Rotational Symmetry is when you rotate the shape and it will still have lines of symmetry though it.First off  I designed my rotational symmetry shape with some smaller shapes. Then once I had my design I took a photo on an iPad then uploaded it to my drive. Then I created a google drawing and inserted my photo. After I made my shape using the shapes bar. Then I grouped my shape so I wouldn't destroy my work.

Antartic weather and climate

A couple of weeks ago we went to the antarctic center and since then we have been studying Antarctica. We to pick one of three topics Weather and climate,Animals and explorers as my second choice i chose weather and climate. as one of our activities we created a weather chart recording the temperature for all of the bases in Antarctica and also we recorded the temperature for Christchurch. we visited  all sorts  of websites to look for the temperatures. Another activity was to create a water cycle about how the cycle works.

Growth And Fixed Mindset

During power time we have been learning about fixed and growth mindsets. Fixed mindsets are when you give up but Growth mindsets are when you keep on trying and never give up. One of our tasks was to create a presentation showing what a fixed and Growth mindset is.

Rainy Day

WALT : To use crayon and dye to show movement and ripples in a weather feature.

On Monday we made a piece of art showing a rainy day.  First we drew the rain and the puddles then if we wanted to we could draw a rainbow but we had to draw it dark so that the dye would go over it. 

Then we dyed it three different types of colors Grey,Dark Blue,Light Blue. We put each color in patches so that it looked like clouds.
