Journey Through Time

For four weeks  I am Going to be doing the summer learning journey about the history of New Zealand. This is the Third  week of my journey and the eleventh day.

Activity One

For this activity we have to listen to three song and then rate them favorite to least favorite.

#1 My first favorite would be 'I Need Your Love,' because it is very disco like.

#2 Then it would have to be 'Shes A Mod.'

#3 Then last it would be 'Sitting In The Rain.' But I Like The Guitar In It.

Activity Two

For this activity we have to write two things we like about the 1970s  fashion and two things you don't like about the 1970s fashion.

For me I like the layered skirts that they wore and the bright colors.

What I don't like is the skinny patterned pants and the collars that go all the way up their neck.

In the 1950s the population of New Zealand grew by 400,000 because so many people were having kids and the popular names for them were=
GIRLS BOYS
Christine John
Susan David
Margaret Peter
Judith Michael
Jennifer Robert
So for this activity we have to write down which names are most popular at our                                          school.

For the girls it would be = Lilly,Emily,Ella,Hayley
For the boys it would be =Sam,Logan,Jayden

For four weeks  I am Going to be doing the summer learning journey about the history of New Zealand. This is the second week of my journey and the eighth day.

Activity One

For this activity we have to pretend that we were alive in 1945 and we had to plan a party at your house to celebrate VE day.

If it was me I would have a big barbecue and invite everyone I knew to come over to have lunch and swim in the pool and stay to dance around and do some karaoke in the man cave and play cricket in the front yard.

Activity two

For this activity we have to compare two different photos of dress styles and decide which one we would prefer and why?

For me I like the first photo because it looks cuter ans its a fitted shape and they have collars and buttons.

Journey Through Time

For four weeks  I am Going to be doing the summer learning journey about the history of New Zealand. This is the second week of my journey and the seventh day.

Activity One

For this activity we have to write down some ways that we use to distress ourselves.

1. The first thing I would do would probably be go in my room and lay down and watch YouTube.
2. The next thing I would do would be sleep.
3.Another way would be reading a book and having some quiet time to myself.
4. also I would  sit and watch a movie with someone I trust.

Activity Two

For this activity we have to Imagine that you were alive in the 1930s. What could you have done to help these families without money ? so we have to list three different ways that you could raise money for families to help them buy food and clothing.

1. You could have a big show with animals and magicians like a circus.
2. You could have a raffle and all the money goes towards the families.
3. Maybe we could have a food festival and everyone can come and bring a plate if they want to.

Bonus Activity

Imagine that you were able to travel back in time to visit a family in the 1930s. What special gifts or treats would you like to bring with you? I would likely bring blocks of Whitaker's chocolate, bags of Jet Planes and Pineapple Lumps, healthy food snacks, clothing, and games for the children. What about you?

If it was me I would bring healthy food and clean water. Also I would bring warm clothes and probably chocolate.

Journey Through Time

For four weeks  I am Going to be doing the summer learning journey about the history of New Zealand. This is the second week of my journey and the sixth day.

 Activity One

For this activity we have to watch a silent film called  The lions cage and try and try and figure it out what it is about.

I think this is about charlie Chaplin walks into the lions cage and accidentally locks himself in then he has to try and get out without waking the lion.

Activity two

For this activity we have to rate a  Art Deco picture out of five and we have to give a reason why we gave that rating.

For me it would be a 5 because it is a such a textured picture
and it has a beautiful shading and detail along with it. Also the way they made the car look so shinny
was amazing.

Bonus Activity

For this activity we have to write a poem imagining that you have just landed after a long 14 hour trip across the Tasman.

T hank god we are back
A cross the Tasman we flew
S till shook from our long adventure
M y its good to see land again
A lthough I don't regret my decision of coming here
N ever again shall this happen

Activity one

For this activity we have to research a cathedral in New Zealand and on our blog put a picture of the cathedral and under it we have to put the name, location and when it was built.

The name of this cathedral is St Mary's Cathedral located in wellington and was opened in 1851 but was destroyed by a fire in 1898.

Activity two

For this activity we have to write down what we think about the fact that women in Saudi Arabia weren't allowed to vote until 2015. Is it fair why or why not?

I think it is just stupid ,i just do not get it if men have the right then why not women it is completely not fair because women should be able to vote for what they think as well as men.

Bonus Activity

For this activity we have to read an Anzac poem and we have to write down how if makes us feel?,what you think of it? and do you like it or not?

As soon as I started to read the poem it struck me with sadness but also grateful that they sacrificed their lives for our freedom.I think this poem is so touching and sad but it is a beautiful poem.

Activity one

For this activity we have to imagine that we have nine other siblings and we have to write how we would feel and would we like it or not? i found it easy to relate to having lots of siblings so its easy to imagine having NINE!

I would feel mad, sad, annoyed, frustrated about having nine other siblings they would be so annoying and I would get no peace and attention from my parents and I would hate it and I would probably have to share a room so no I would not like having nine siblings.

Journey Through Time

For four weeks  I am Going to be doing the summer learning journey about the history of New Zealand. This weeks activity's are about the begging. Today is the second day of my journey.

Activity one

For this activity we had to describe the difference between a normal house and a wharepuni which is a Maori place were they slept.

The Differences between a house and a Wharepuni

A  house is normally made out of bricks, but a Wharepuni is made out of timber and bark.
A  house has more than one room but a Wharepuni has one big room.
Most  houses have carpet but a wharepuni has cold hard floors.

Activity two
For this task we have to draw a picture of what we want to be when we grow up. For this one I found it quite easy because I have always wanted to be a writer.

Bonus activity

For this activity we have to take a picture of our favourite food and say what it is and why it is our favourite food and include the recipe if we know it.

My favourite food would have to be chocolate pudding because it is warm and moist in the middle and has a warm thick chocolatey sauce and it also really good with ice cream and its quite easy to make because it is self saucing the recipe is =

1. Preheat oven to 180 c.
2. Grease a a medium baking dish about 20x15cm with butter.
3. Bring a full kettle to boil.
4. In a medium bowl, whisk together 1/2 cup of milk, 1 egg,and 1/2 cup of melted butter.
5. In a different large bowl sieve 1 cup of flour,1 teaspoon of baking powder and two tablespoons of coco       powder, then stir in 1/2 cup of brown sugar.
6. Slowly add the wet mix to the flour mix and whisk gently together until smooth and mixed in.
7. Pour into prepared dish and smooth it out.
8. In a small bowl add 3/4 of a cup of brown sugar ,sieve in 2 tablespoons of coco powder then sprinkle it       over the pudding.
9. Slowly pour hot water over the pudding evenly.
10. Place the dish over a tray to stop spills and put it in the oven for 25-30 mins. Serve immediately while still warm, enjoy.

Journey Through The Time

For four weeks  I am Going to be doing the summer learning journey about the history of New Zealand. This weeks activity's are about the begging. Today is the first day of my journey.

Activity one

For this activity we had to read a text called  Maui and the giant fish then we had to write three interesting facts about Maui and add what other stories we have heard about Maui. For this task I found it easy to find a couple of facts but found it challenging to find a third one.

Interesting facts about Maui

1. I learnt that Maui had always wanted to go fishing with his older brothers.
2. I learnt that Maui wove his fishing line from flax.
3. I learnt that Maui used his blood as bait.

Activity two

For this activity we had to think that we were sailing thousands of miles on one of the wakas on our way to New Zealand and your writing a letter to one of your friends telling them about our voyage to New Zealand. And also telling them how you feel about moving to a different country. For this activity I found it easy to imagine what it would be like crossing the wild sea but I found it hard to imagine what it would be like leaving home and moving to a different country.

     Dear Emily

Wow it has been an amazing journey across the sea but I am very tired and  I wish I was back                  home. it is very scary out here the waka has nearly flip a couple of times when we are court up in the storms. I am also very existed but really nervous about going to a different country what if  there are creatures that kill you in the night? I hope you write to me soon.

     From Lucy

Bonus activity

For this activity we had to watch a video about people racing in wakas as a sport called Waka Ama  and our task was to decide if we would want compete in a Waka Ama one day. For me it was hard to decide if I wanted too or not. But it was really easy to back up my answer either way.

For me it would have to be a no because I would hate it out in a lake, river ,thing going so fast when it could easily tip over in a second. Also it would get so tiring paddling as hard as you can. But on the other hand it would be fun and a great experience.
