Balloon Blowing With gases

Image result for baking soda balloons Aim: To see which mix creates the most gas.

Hypothesis: I think that all the balloons will blow up but I think the one with the sugar, yeast, and warm water will be slow and have the smallest effect, and I think that the vinegar and baking soda will be the fastest and have the biggest effect

Materials:

Balloon 3
Yeast
Warm Water

Bottle
Sugar
Funnel
Balloon 2

Steps:
Balloon 1
1. Put Baking Soda into a balloon using a funnel.
2. Pour vinegar into the bottle with a funnel.
3. Put balloon onto the bottle
4. Hold down the balloon as it blows up.

Balloon 2
1. Add salt into the bottle Using a funnel
2. pour Soda Water into the bottle using a funnel
3. Put the balloon onto the bottle

Balloon 3
1. Add yeast into the bottle by using a funnel
2. Add sugar into the bottle using a funnel.
3. Pour warm water into the bottle
4. Put the balloon onto the bottle

Findings:

Balloon 1
( 3 tsp baking soda, ½ cup vinegar)
Balloon 2
( 3 tsp salt, ½ cup soda)
Balloon 3
( 2 tsp yeast, 1 tsp sugar )
Balloon Size (cm)
10.6cm 5.5cm5.1cm
Bubbles
Small Amount Medium Amount Large Amount

Conclusion:  At the end of this experiment Balloon 1 is the biggest by far and Balloon 3 is the smallest, in fact, it didn't even blow up at all it just stayed the way it was even though the yeast at the bottom of the bottle was rising a lot. When we added the baking soda to balloon 1 shot up straight away, but when we added water to the sugar and the yeast the ballon didn't budge but a few minutes later the brown yeast started foaming up, whereas the others started looking like lemonade.

Surfing

On the Yr, 7&8's went surfing at Sumner beach. We arrived at Sumner beach and lined up for wet suits even though I thought it was stupid to have to wear a wetsuit. We then got ourselves a surfboard and carried it back into a dry patch of grass and placed it in a circle facing the middle. They gave us a quick lesson then lined us up against a rocky wall and gave us a brief talk about water safety and rules about being in the water. Then we strode out onto the beach and out into the water where we started surfing. I remember it was a struggle trying to carry my board it was just so BIG. Once you got far out enough you could get big waves that could take you up to the shore. It was a lot of fun even though I only stood up once and only for a second before I lost my balance and went crashing into the waves and tugged under my board.

Story Board Creation

Today for art we created our storyboard for the stop motion that we are hoping to create by the end of this. Our stop motion is about 4 girls going to an island on a camping trip, and end up running into a wolf. two of the girls, after seeing the wolf run away and get lost. So the others try to find them. After we finished our storyboard we switched it with another group and we gave each other feedback on their work. This is the feedback we got. I like the wolf in the story it reminds me of a cold night. Next time tell us about what happened after the wolf chased them into the cave.

Home Chemistry

Aim- Our aim is to learn the names of 10 household chemicals and identify if they are a solid, liquid or a gas.

Equipment-Chromebook, Google, Docs

Steps-
1. First, we created a doc
2. Then we added in a table
3. We then searched the Chemical names and Whether they were a Gas, Liquid or a Solid
4. I then added in all of my info into the table
5. After that, I posted it on my blog

Conclusion- We learned about the different names of 10 household items and whether they are a solid, gas, or a liquid, like sugar it called sucrose, and baking soda is a solid.
