This week in our P.E Hurumanu we have been playing some team games to show what level of working as a team we are at.
Our first activity was Kick Long Ball for this we did class vs class and For this activity, I rated myself a 2. Level 2 is working towards the level and sometimes making a contribution to the team but sometimes need the teacher to remind me to join in or try harder, Trying to use positive words and actions to encourage my team. During the first game of Kick Long Ball, I showed that I am working at level 2 by scoring for my team but when I was fielding I needed a reminder from the teacher to get involved These examples show that I am working at level 2.
The second activity we played was bench ball wich we played in small teams of 5 to 6 people.
For this activity, I rated myself a level 3. Level 3 is Working at the level, Always making a contribution to the team goal, Including myself in team activity and including other, Sometimes using positive words and actions to encourage my team. During the first game of Bench Ball, I showed that am working at level 3 by helping most of the time to get people up on the bench and encouraging when it's my turn to go up. These examples show that I am working at level 3.
I am a student at in Uru Mānuka. In 2020 I was a year 9 and in 2021 I will be a year 10. This is a place where I will be able to share my learning with you. Please note....some work won't be edited - just my first drafts, so there may be some surface errors. I would love your feedback, comments, thoughts and ideas.

What She Means To Me
Today in music we were writing comes about something important to ourselves. The task was to write two verses (each at least four sentences long) and a chorus, It has to tell a story or has a beginning idea and an ending, and has to contain metaphors. The inspiration for my song was my cats but one cat, in particular, her name is luna and whenever I get home she always brightens my day so shes something important to me. At first, I found it hard to write because I didn't know exactly what I wanted to write about and what tune the lyrics would go with. But the more I wrote the easier it became and I'm happy with the end product.
What she means to me
Soft as a cotton ball, Sweet as chocolate Cake
Time passes by so quickly when you're cuddled up next to me-
Chasing leaves in the breeze
and, lying by the fire when it's too cold outside
When the Lights go out, go into the darkness, by my side
But nobody knows what she, means to me
no nobody
no no nobody ye-yeah
nobody- knows what she means to me hehe
Her silky and smooth
oh my oh my, how cute she looks
when she rolls around in the dirt
and scratches on my door at night
when the night gets cold and the fire burns out
I know she'll be snuggled up next to me, like moss on a tree

It's Cool To Be Kind
Today for CIP I joined a different group called It's Cool To Be Kind. Today we created a cartoon to show kindness. I decided to draw mine on paper rather than do it on a Chromebook because i could put more detail into it.

Music Through The Ages
Last term we started creating a slide show showing the different types of music that were popular in each era. This was awsome fun learning all the different music that was played in that era as it was so different from the music we play nowadays.

Poems
This term we have been working on writing our own poems. We have been looking at the different types of poems and inspiration for them. Then we learned how to write them here are two poems that I wrote.
Cold, frosty
Crunch, crunch
Snow powdering the ground
Quiet...quiet
The whispering of the trees, Small glow of light,
Distance cheep of a lonely baby bird abandoned,...taking its last, little, breath…
One small step…, just one
One….. small….little….step
Nobody wonders,....nobody cares
Loneliness……..can be deadly

MARS!
Aim: To learn about Mars exploration.
1. Rover facts
2. Design, Draw and Make a Rover
3. Mars facts
1. Rover facts:
Fill in the table below.
Name:
|
Purpose:
|
Wheels
| The mars 2020 has six wheels, each with their own individual motor.the two front and the two rear wheels also have individual steering motors. this steering capability allows the vehicle to turn in place, a full 360 degrees. The four-wheel steering also allows the rover to swerve and curve, making arcing turns. |
Solar Panel
| The rover requires electrical power to operate. Without power, the rover can't move, use its science instruments, or communicate with the earth. Mars 2020 carries a radioscope power system, The power system produces a dependable flow of electricity using the heat of plutonium's radioactive decay as fuel. |
Laser
| One of the Cameras on the rover fires a laser at mineral targets that are beyond the reach of the rover’s robotic arm and then analyzes the vaporized rock to reveal its elemental composition. |
Camera
| The rover has several cameras focused on engineering and science tasks. Some help them land on Mars while others serve as their eyes on the surface to drive around. We use others to do scientific observations and aid in the collection of samples |
Shovel, rock pick, drill
| The rover's drill will use rotary motion with or without percussion to penetrate into the Martian surface to collect the precious samples. The drill is equipped with three different kinds of attachments (bits) that facilitate sample acquisition and surface analysis. The coring and regolith bits are used to collect Martian samples directly into a clean sample collection tube, while the abrader bit is used to scrape off or "abrade" the top layers of rocks, to expose fresh, un-weathered surfaces for study. |
2. In groups of 3, you will Design, Draw and Make a Mars Rover out of Lego Technics.
Materials:
Materials:
- Lego Technics
- A4 paper
- Pencil
- Ruler
- Eraser
The drawing and model must have:
- 6 wheels
- 1 camera
- 1 tool at the front that includes a shovel, pick and drill.
- 1 solar panel
- 1 laser that points at the ground
( Take a photo and upload your Mars rover onto your blog.)

Beats & Beyond
Today was 7&8 Ts and 7&8 Mt's second lesson in music. At the start, Mr. Mitchell Showed us his Guitars And the different parts and names of the guitars. We then created a title page at the start of our books and created a glossary, listing all the different guitars that he brought and the different parts of them. Mr. Mitchell brought four different types of guitars, A Nylon-string Guitar, A Steel String Guitar, A Backpacker Guitar, and a Dreadnaught Guitar. During the lesson, we upgraded the name from music to Beats & Beyond because we thought that music was too boring.
A Few Words From My Glossary

Dreadnaught Guitar Backpackers Guitar Nylon String Guitar Stratocaster
A Few Words From My Glossary
- Whammy Bar- A Bar on an electric guitar that quickly changes the string tension.
- Capo- Holds down all six strings at the same time
- Amp-Plugs into an electric guitar and does the job of a sound hole.
- Soundhole- A Hole in a guitar where the sound comes from.
