Christmas Around The World
Today we are learning about Christmas traditions around the world and we learnt a bout the different things that people leave out for Santa and each different country did something different.Did you know that France leaves out a sponge cake with cherry's on top for Santa. do you know what other country's leave out for Santa?

Yesterday everyone read a text about peoples Christmas traditions around the world.I was away yesterday so i am doing it today and i learnt about what everyone dose for Christmas but I also learnt how to say happy Christmas in lots of different ways.i learnt that in France they leave there shoes out for Santa to fill them up kind of like a stocking.

Don't let the pigeon get a walrus
Last week Mrs haris read us four different pigeon stories Don't let the pigeon drive the bus,Don't let the pigeon stay up late,The pigeon wants a puppy and The pigeon needs a bath. Then we picked one of the stories to write our opinion about I chose the pigeon wants a puppy but in the story the pigeon gets a puppy but then it doesn't like the puppy so it wanted a walrus so we wrote if the pigeon should or shouldn't get a walrus and I said the pigeon shouldn't get a walrus.
I don't think that the pigeon should get a walrus because the 1000kg walrus would crush the 900g pigeon till it was flat as a piece of paper. Also how would you get the walrus to your house if it's too heavy to move.
Another reason is how would you fit a 3.6 meter long walrus in your small pigeon bath without letting your owner know? And if you do fit it in the bath you would need saltwater not freshwater from the tap. And also where are you going to get all that saltwater from?
If the pigeon gets a walrus how would they make it stay? If you try to put the walrus in a pool or in the sea it would swim away or it would hop out of the pool or the bath and waddle away and smash the door ways while it escapes and runs off to the sea and the pigeon would get upset.
At the end of the day in my opinion the pigeon will get a walrus and see what it is truly like and the pigeon will change its mind and want something else that is even bigger and even more terrifying and it will go round and round in circles and the creatures will get bigger and bigger and more and more terrifying.

Alarm Call
This week we have been writing a story about what might happen next in the picture but it had to have an unexpected twist.
Alarm Call
Prrrrrrrrrr…. The purr of the cat was deathening to the gruesome green goblins long curved ears. As the goblin creeped along the floor on his way to the destination of his worst fear… the kitten. As the silence of the night sky flowed through the floorboards underneath the bright pink boils of the goblins pink spotted feet.The kitten was in light sleep on his pink polka dot pillow surrounded by a sea of balls.
The green goblin reached forward with his skinny green fingers, attached to his fingers long,dirty,rotten yellow ,sharp nails got ready to face the kitten. But the kitten jumped up and the goblin froze in fright.The kitten slowly strolled towards the goblin still frozen in fear like he had been frozen in a block of cold ice.The fuzzy kitten brushed his fuzzy fur against the goblins green spotty legs as the goblin let out a screech like a baby's whine but even louder in hope that it would scare the kitten away.
The goblin unfroze and in half of a second the green goblin was out the door and the fuzz ball just sat in the doorway and waited for his love, the gruesome ,green goblin to return. THE END...

Te Manu Tukutuku Poem
This first week of school for literacy we started off on writing and for writing we did a poem about moving into the new school. We had to include two feelings and four senses see,smell,hear and touch. We also had to include at least one simile and alliteration in our poem. We first started off by brainstorming in a big group about feeling words then we brainstormed what we could hear,see,smell and touch. After we started writing here is my work.

I hear the screaming of excitement all around me.
I can see people scrambling onto the playground from the brand new window of Punui-o-Toka.
The smell of freshness being blown in by a soft breeze and the clean smell of the building.
The touch of the soft walls were like the feel of a cats fur after washing.
I felt so lucky that I would be able to Treasure the terrific time here.

Tour Of New Zealand Day 5
For the past few weeks we have been completing tasks about New Zealand.Our WALT is to learn more about New Zealand and the activity's you can do.\
Activity 1
Our task was to create a story about the possibility´s of being stranded in the woods when your pack has left you behind and we had to say what we saw,heard and felt. Here is my story.
I turned around and saw that my pack had ventured on without me, there was a silence nothing but the birds chirping and the trees swaying. I saw that I was alone, I start to freak out what is going to happen now, are the wild creatures of the forest going to eat me alive or are they going to drown me in the water and then eat me? Was I going to be stuck here my hole life, I started to panic I didn´t Know what to do, all I could think about was whats going to happen next. I suddenly fell into a full panic my head felt dissy every thing I saw was blury, and there was only faint noises. I tell myself that i´m going to be okay but my head was full of bad possibility's like starving to death, or me panicking and running into a tree and die or maybe I would die of starvation and the birds feast on me? My most worry was being stranded in the woods with the SPIDERS! and after I thought about that I defiantly wanted to get out of here so I started to run. It felt like I was running for hours but in the distance of my blurry view I could see the pack coming back for me and suddenly my blurry vision went dragging my headache along with it I was saved.

Tour Of New Zealand Day Four
This past week we have been looking at different places in new Zealand. our WALT was to learn more about New Zealand and each day we would have two different tasks and a bonus task. each day is like a different part of New Zealand or a different theme .
Activity 1
Our task is to do some reading about Farewell spit and the incident with the whales, we had to describe what people did to help the whales. To describe what they did I made a story about it. First I made a list of the things that the people did then I turned the list into a story.Here is a link to the site that I got information from. Link
It was a Friday morning when my dad was waking me up I got up straight away after he told me what was happening. We raced in the car to farewell spit to see and help the beached whales all of my family were prepared to help. When we got there we could see at least fifty whales beached on the soft sand. we arrived and got straight to work we brung our buckets and shovels and lots of towels. We lay the wet towels on the beached whales and started digging a hole underneath the whales and then filed them up with water we filed the buckets with water and tipped it over the whale but we had to be careful to keep the blow hole clear. We worked all day going back and forth from the beach gathering water it was a long day, Once night fell we went home and could only hope for the beached whales to go back out to sea during high tide.
Bonus Activity
Our task is to give a reason why fishermen should stop fishing in farewell spit or if they should because of the Hector Dolphins . For this task I made a slide show about it.

Netiquette Nijas
For the past week for cyber smart we were working on our part 2 of Netiquette. Netiquette is rules online that will keep you safe to do this task we used mindmup hope you enjoy. it started off by making a video notes off a video talking about netiquette then from that we made a mind mup.

- treat other people how you want to be treated don't want somebody to be bad to you.
- keep things clear also clear and easy to read.
- don't write in all capital letters people might think you're shouting at them.
- one thing to understand the text clearly is to re read what you send.
- check your tone punctuation and spelling before you send.

I chose to put in the blues in the background because we have lots of beaches and are surrounded by water. The best place to go would be karekare Beach to chill out on the famous black sand. There is lots to do like taking a walk to visit an amazing water full called te Ahoaho or known as the dangling white thread, or have a swim to cool down.It’s a great place to surf and have a picnic. Karekare beach is on Aucklands west coast between piha and whatipu and one of Aucklands most spectacular beaches and wilderness areas.

I found out that the maori people voyaged for thousands of miles across the pacific ocean in small canoes that were built to go sail over the ocean.

New zealand's european pioneers were also brave,strong and independent. Before building farms and buildings they had to clear the land which is a hard and dangerous activity. And with new zealander having no protection meant that the elements forced the young new zealanders to become tough and multi skilled.

Kiwis have been discovering and inventing things. Many of the things we have created were made in a backyard.even though the frozen meat, the Hamilton jet boat and the bungey jump are the most famous ones there are many others.

Calendar Art
This past week we have been creating our calendar art.We had three choices one was to draw lots of harts or do a koru and finally we had the City Scape and I chose the City Scape. Our first step was to draw a grid and then on the grid we drew a City Scape. Soon after we painted the buildings each building was a different color but the boxes inside the building were the same color but a different shade, and for the sky we did lots of different shade of blue. our last step was to out line the buildings with a vivid and draw windows and doors.Here is my masterpiece.

My Logo
For the past term we have been learning and creating logos.The whole point of learning about logos was because all of the schools in this area have been asked to create a logo for Uru Manuka. To practice we designed and made a logo for ourselves.We started off by looking at different fonts,colors,shapes and patterns.After we started to design our logo in our project book every one had at least 6 or 7 designs by the time we started creating.Once we had decided which one we were going to create we opened up a google drawing and started creating. Complex Sentences
This week we have been learning about complex sentences. To create complex sentences we had to learn what a complex sentence needs.A complex sentence is basically two simple sentences joined together. A complex sentence needs to have at least two verbs and a conjunction to join each simple sentence together. My Description
The night had come… the battle of the giants. It was mid night when they attacked but it was strange they had trumpets?They had masks and big cloaks. Everyone fled but once they arrived they put down their suitcases blew their trumpets ad revealed themselves they all had big ears? It was the bfg apocalypse.The huge bfg well one of the bfgs opened his suitcase to reveal a disco ball and the other one of the bfgs pulled out gallons of frobscottle. Everyone at the castle was partying all night. In the morning the Queen work with a horrible sight there was thousands of bfgs lying every where between millions of people.There was food every where, the top of the castle had broken off and one of the bfgs where having a bath in her pool. She froze with fear then fainted and that was the end.

BREAD!
last week we made bread so for writing we made a recount about making bread our WALT was to To Write a Recount about making bread with the correct structure and a hook.
BREAD
Bread,Bread,Bread fascinating Bread is… last week the year five and six made bread. The teachers decide that it was going to be a cool idea to make bread because it would link to our healthy eating that we were working on for our inquiry.
First off we washed our hands then came rushing back hoping for the prize of having a front row look at the bread making. When we huddled round the table we could see that all the equipment was already laid out on the table. Once everyone was back our teacher started measuring out all the dry ingredients and putting them in a bowl. Everyone watched carefully to what happened hoping that something surprising will happen. Mrs Jack stirred the dry ingredients together then started adding the liquid ingredients together. After the yeast and the dough was made we combined them together.
Once we combined the ingredients together Mrs Jack started kneading the dough. She pushed her heel of her hand down into the dough and then folded it over again and again. We kneaded the dough to spread the air bubbles and that was when the surprising moment came the sound of the popping bubbles… Every one looked so scared. I mean it's just popping bubbles. After the popping stopped we stared at the dough being put into the bowl and there and then was were we were separated. I was so excited to see how much it would have grown. Mrs jack told us that to make the bread rise it needs yeast to make the air bubbles and that's why the bread rises because the air bubbles grow. For the bubbles to grow it needs to trap the heat and be put in a warm place so we put a tea towel over the bowl and put it on the shelf.
We left the dough to rise for about an hour until the dough had grown at least twice the size of its original size. So once it had grown we took it out of the bowl and kneaded it again and then we formed its shape and left it to rise again. After it had risen up again we put it in the oven for an hour until it was golden brown and sounds hollow in the inside.
We tasted the warm,soft and damp bread. As I bit into the bread it felt crunchy on the outside and moist in the middle but also quite mushy. The delicate crumbs crumbled down onto my lap but it was still so delicious.
I really liked the bread but I think it would be better if we would have left it sit for a bit after it was cooked in the oven.

An Ice Blocks Choice
For the past term every Monday for maths we have been doing statistics. First off we learnt what statistics was which was basically collecting data and putting it into graphs. So we have been making some graphs but first we learnt what some graphs were we learnt about pie,bar and strip graphs.After we started making some graphs I made two one is a pie graph and one is a bar graph.To make a graph we made a spread sheet and wrote our data in and then clicked insert ,chart and it magically transformed into a graph and from there I changed it to the graphs I wanted. After I inserted my work into a doc and added some true statements.

Yesterday at the SPCA in a small cyan kennel There was a beautiful golden Labrador with a silky coat of soft fur .The fluffy dog named Goldie lox was snoozing in a dog print bed full of fluff .When she saw me she jumped up, and out of nowhere a soft cute woof poured out of her mouth followed with a calming cry of excitement .

My Holidays

The Dinner
Walking in the door and woof woof woof was all you can hear. A couple of days ago on Sunday night me and all of my family were on our way to my aunties and uncles house for a family gathering because my Nanna is turning 80!!!!!.
We arrived at five o'clock ,silently opened the door the suddenly out of nowhere... woof woof woof!! Murphy The medium drown dog took one look at me and then ran off.
We squeezed through the door and there was my uncle greeting us. I put the food up on the bench and sat down with my sisters.After a while my family slowly started flooding in once my whole family was here we were all in a tight squeeze since there was 40 of us so me and my sisters moved into the small lounge and started playing some card games and dad was off to get the chips for tea.
The door was opened and dad was back with the chips and tea was called up. There was all of a sudden a huge rush to get tea, I got in first and got chips with tomato sauce,chicken and some lamb after I got my meal I headed into the small lounge and sat at the table. Of course I had the chips first but suddenly it all came to an end when I ran out of the yummiest tomato sauce in the world ‘NNNNNN OOOOO!!!’ but then… I SAW THE STUFFING!! I was skipping with glee to grab my stuffing ‘yay’. I finished my food within seconds and put my plate on the crystal marble bench and headed back into the playroom to play some memory and of course I won.
After playing memory for a while kids ice creams were called up and the flavors were chocolate,coconut,and salted caramel and I love salted caramel so I got salted caramel in a cone and soon after cake was ready and we were all lining(lining) up for a piece of birthday cake and because it was carrot cake they added NUTS whyyyyy!!!! I hate nuts so luckily there was vanilla cake and banana cake with creamy chocolate icing yummy and best of all homemade raspberry sauce.
Once we had finished eating we played cars with all of my causins (cousins)and soon after it was time to go home so we packed up and headed out to exposur (explore) the outside and that's when everyone went crazy we were running up and down the drive the dog was barking we were screaming we had gone mad. After settling down with another piece of cake we jumped in the car and headed home.
It was fun it was so nice to see my whole entire family literally everyone and it was cool to hang out with the scruffy dog Murphy .

Chuck The Chicken
This is my recount about kiwi can a couple of weeks ago. I have edited this but if you find things that i need to improve on can you give me some feed back on a comment.
Chuck the chicken chuck the chicken it was Tuesday afternoon and Mrs Raisins inquiry group was at kiwi Can. The leaders had shown a game called Chuck the Chicken.
Half of the group was on one side being the fielding team and the others were on the other in an egg shaped circle. Passing poor Daisy the black dotted cow that oinked like a pig begging for food.
As the fielding team were yelling chuck the chicken Chuck the chicken Chuck the chicken Chuck the chicken. when I was in the circle it sounded like the crowed at a baseball game in 1992.
Nathan screeched (CHUCK THE CHICKEN) the person holding the cow threw it with all there might (PLONK) the cow had hit the ground. (ZOOM) the person was in action sprinting around the egg shaped circle skidded round the edge and (CRASH) straight into place.
Yeeeeeeeeeeee sssssssssssss the fielding had won they were in a straight line before the person got to his place. I felt so nurvers he was super speedy and he lossed imagine me having to go around the circle it was a nightmare. Round two is on so beware …
The other dumb boring always winning fielding team shuffled around in position for caching the chicken that is actually a cow but oinked like a pig.
As I took a deep breath and said I am not touching that cow I am not touching that rubber cow.
The game started I closed my eyes then took a peck and quickly I passed it to the person beside me. (Hhhh uuuu)that was lucky chuck the chicken I shuffled away from the person beside me as she had the cow she threw it out on the stage and boom she was back in a flash.
Yyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy we win we win we win we win we win we win we win yay. I was so glad I had passed to her or else I would have to run and they would have bet me I was just so happy that she was in our team.

I am going out the back so that I don’t have to catch the cow.
The person next to me started shouting chuck the chickenchuck the chicken. wow if I was her I would feel so embarrassed but after she had said it a couple of times everyone was shouting out chuck the chicken. Everyone except me I was whispering I want to go home I felt like I was going to blackout but I didn’t but I wish I did.
The other team started passing the poor cow chuck the chicken it landed on a girl fewf but man she can throw hard. Poor dashie if I was her it would feel like I was on a giant roller coaster and I would probably be throwing up imagine if she did throw up brown paper coming out of her mouth yuck.Brianna caught the cow and we all lined up behind her and yelled yay we won in a bored voice. Brianna threw the cow back to Nathan.
They started passing the cow around again and they just kept passing it round and round and round. I started getting bored even though I was supposed to be all excited about this.
Chuck the chicken they threw the cow and it zoomed straight to the back of the hall and someone caught it. But I didn’t know who it was I only saw a quick glimpse of him.
The other team went huh And we just didn’t say anything.
Kate said right everyone in four lines down here please. Well all I had to say was that the game was exciting at the start but then it got boring because we just keeps winning.
