SEXXXY Paragraph -
In the real world kitchen scene, Lighting and colour are used effectively to show looks can be deceiving. We see this when Coraline is eating breakfast with her real parents. The room has natural lighting flowing through the window in the room, creating a bright light that is filling every corner of the room. The natural lighting has a white tone, making the room feel cold and miserable. The color of the room is white and grey making it look old and run down. This makes the audience understand that they are not a happy family and Coraline doesn't like it there. The director made the real kitchen seem old and boring to make the other world more appealing, this shows us that Coraline is unhappy in the dull real world. This also worked well with the setting as the cloudy grey sky outside the window and the old worn down kitchen adds to the cold and dull feeling. This can be juxtaposed to the scene in the other world, where Coraline is eating dinner with her other parents.

Prop Stories!
This week in drama we looked at what props were, for the activity each member of our group selected a prop then created a story that would justify each prop. Our first prop that was selected was a giant syringe, afterward, we carefully selected a prop that went with a scary doctor's theme so that we could create a horror story which I thought was really fun as I have never performed a horror story!
So what are props? Props are objects that are used on stage or screen by actors during a performance. A prop is considered anything on set that is moveable/portable, yet distinct from actors, sets, costumes, and electrical equipment.
Prop Weapons -
A prop weapon is a prop such as a gun or a sword that looks realistic and functional but lacks the intentional harmfulness the real weapon has.
Hero Prop -
Hero props are more detailed and are intentionally made for close up inspection from the camera or the audience.
Stunt prop -
Stunt props like rubber bladed swords are used in film and stage performances to minimize injury to the stuntmen who use the stunt props.

HEART DISSECTION!
Yesterday's lesson was an exciting one as we got to dissect a pig's heart! There are different parts of the heart that we have been researching about, The atrium which is the upper chamber of the heart that receives blood, The ventricles which are the bottom parts of the heart which pump the blood out of the heart, The Aorta is the largest artery and takes the blood away from the heart and around the body, The vena cava is a large vein that takes deoxygenated blood that has traveled all around the body to the heart, The valve's job is to stop the backflow of the blood, the valves are attached by the heartstrings wich help the valve's stop the backflow of the blood. To start the dissection we first cut open the right side of the heart which revealed the valves, heartstrings, Arteries, And veins! After that it was kinda a free for all, my group ended up tearing the pig's heart in half to get a better look at what was inside. Our materials only consisted of tweezers, Scalpel, and dissection scissors. The heart is one of the most important organs in your body, its job is to pump the blood around your body and into your lungs to dispose of carbon dioxide and gather oxygen. Without a heart, we wouldn't be able to survive as we wouldn't get the energy and nutrients that we get from the blood that flows around our bodies. Overall this was really fun and interesting to understand how our own bodies survive!
Here are some photos of our class attempting to dissect a heart!

Music Performances!
Music performances -
For this task, I choose to play on piano because I found it the most interesting to me and I had heaps of choices of what I wanted to play!
Ever since I started to learn piano I have always wanted to learn how to play Fur Elise by Beethoven, so for this activity, I choose to learn that song!
One of the most challenging aspects of learning this piece was learning the left-handed sections, But over time after practicing heaps it just became natural.
I thought my final performance was ok-ish, I would have liked to have more practice time.
If I could change my performance i would have spent more time practicing the one section i had learned in the first week and have it run smoothly throughout my performance rather than spending most of my practice time learning different sections of the piece.
Something I enjoyed in music this semester was being able to have a go at the instruments, and having a free choice about what we wanted to do and what we wanted to play.

BLUES GENRE!
For this task, we had to choose a genre we thought was interesting and wanted to a research project about. I choose the genre Blues! I choose this because it was a genre that I didn't know very much about and I thought the songs that were produced sounded really funky. After choosing our research genre as blues I then decided to focus on the instrumentation aspect of blues. This was really fun knowing what instruments are used to make the final sound, One instrument that I found really cool to learn about was the Double bass! Here is my presentation!
Linking themes!
Workshop 2! - Linking themes to the impact of angles, Movement, and shots.
BrainStorm -
What's happening? - The "Other Wybie" is standing on the stairs leading up to the house. The Other mother asks him to smile from the doorway, instead, the other wybie pulls a long face. The other wybie is slouching over and making himself smaller -Less of a target- Shoulders down wich shoulders hunched over making him look weak and variable
Angles/Shot -
High angle - Makes wybie look overpowered, small, weak, and vulnerable.
Point of view - Makes the other mother seem stronger, bigger, and more dominant.
Viewer - Makes viewers feel sorry / Scared for the other wybie.
Director- Foreshadowing (Hinting at what's coming) That the other mother is evil and controlling.
Other techniques - Lighting - Spotlight on wybie - Like he's on the spot/Under focus. Dark around him creating a creepy atmosphere.
SEXXY Paragraph -
In the scene with the other mother and the other wybie we see high angle shots used to show the theme 'Looks can be deceiving.' We see this when the other mother asks the other wybie to smile, in turn, he hunches over and pulls a long face. This makes the audience feel sorry for the other wybie because he looks scared. The use of a high angle shot from the other mothers' perspective adds to this feeling as it makes the other wybie seem weak and vulnerable. The director did this to foreshadow that the other mother isn't as wonderful as she seems, instead she is evil and controlling. Coinciding with this is the use of lighting. A spotlight is focused on the other wybie to emphasize the fact that he is under the gaze of the other mother. This reminds the viewers of early in the film where a low angle shot was used to make wybie seem big and scary but really he was just an ordinary kid. This links to the theme because it also shows a moment when the look of a character was deceiving.

Silent Movies & Time
Today in drama we created and performed a silent movie where you act usually over the top without dialog.
The movie was set in a wild west bar with rowan the bartender and >>>> the piano player in the corner. We had boxes as the bar with flowers and metal cups along with guns as our props. For our costumes, we wore a cowboy hat, wigs, and beards because why not!
The scene starts off with the bartender (Ella) serving drinks and the piano player (Tamsyn) playing classical music. In stumbles, the drunk gold miner (Damien) and orders a drink, chug it then order another while the sheriff (Emily) walks in and greets the bartender with flowers. After the sheriff orders, a drink the outlaw (Me) Stomps into the bar and rushes over to the sheriff and starts up a fight. The sheriff draws their weapon and shoots the outlaw, while the outlaw falls they pull out their gun and shoot the sheriff. ENDD!
This was really fun to make because it focuses on acting instead of dialog. This movie that we made shows a lot of emotion such as, Betrayal, anger, affection, and confusion. All of the actors who did this activity were really excited to perform and it was so much fun to "shoot" your friends!
During the performance, we used the element of TIME. We had a person from the audience call out an activity to do with time. For example, the audience member can say, Slowmotion, Fast forward, Rewind and FREEZE! One of the scenes I had to storm in angrily and stomp over to Emily the sheriff then had to rewind back off the stage. This was really hard sometimes especially when the member of the audience tells you to rewind when you have just died and killed someone.

Arthritis!
Today while we were waiting to look at the joints in a cow and pig leg we skimmed over the topic of arthritis. For this task, we had to create a slide show explaining what arthritis is, how arthritis forms, and what different types of arthritis there are. Did you know that there are over 100 different forms of arthritis? I decided to complete this task with a classmate as I didn't have much time to complete this, but it was cool to see what their style is in creating a post! Here is my slideshow!

Opportunity Cost!
Coraline (Themes and ideas)
THEMES AND IDEAS - continuous idea/ subject that links throughout the film/text.
LOOKS CAN BE DECEIVING - "Don't judge a book by its cover" Don't judge by appearance
EXAMPLE 1 - Character of wybie - When the character is introduced he seems dark and scary (Mask + Motorbike) The scene of which he is introduced is shot as a high angle to make him look bigger and more of a predator, Add the loud music creates tension. But in reality, he is just a weird neighbor.
This example shows the theme because like the other characters, our first impressions of the character are based on their appearance, tone, and visual techniques yet they aren't always correct.
This is important because it helps the audience understand with Coraline that just because something looks good doesn't mean it is. She should choose the real world over the other world.
EXAMPLE 2 - Character of the "Other Mother" - In the beginning, the other mother seems normal and friendly but by the end of the film she transforms into a would devouring spider demon.
This shows the theme because the other mother isn't the friendly person she appears to be at the beginning of the film, so we shouldn't judge by their first impressions.
This is again important because Coraline realizes that having something that looks perfect isn't always a good thing.
S- Statement
In Coraline, the theme 'Looks Can be deceiving' is used effectively to engage the audience.
E- Evidence
For instance, the character of the "Other Mother" shows us that she looks can be deceiving by starting off as a friendly, kind mother figure but by the end, she has gradually transformed into a soul-devouring spider demon.
X- Explanation
This makes the audience understand that we shouldn't judge a character by appearances and first impressions, as they can often be incorrect.
X- Explanation
The director did this to enhance the plot and storyline and help Coraline decide between the real world and the fake world. If the other mother was perfect it would have changed corallines' decision in going back to the real world.
X- Explanation
Combined with this is the use of color and lighting. The "Other mother" first appears in a vibrantly bright room that makes us feel welcomed, warm, and safe. However, by the end, it has become dark and green which makes the audience feel scared and shows that her first look was deceiving.
Y- Your link
This can be just apposed to the character of wybie who we think at first ks evil and scary but is actually kind, Proving that looks can be deciving.

Telling a story with dance
Today in drama we had to tell a story using a dance from tik tok. After choosing our dance we turned it into a story about a girl who is going on a date with a guy but the guy shows up late and they end up getting into a fight while on the date. During the performance, we used each of the dance moves from tik tok as our fighting moves. We started off with choosing a song that we thought was appropriate and had cool dance moves to it, afterward we took inspiration from the moves to create the story, while also including the dance moves into the performance smoothly yet noticeable.
The hardest part of this lesson was trying to find an appropriate song with useable dance moves and creating a story for them in the time we had. This was really fun, even though I'm not the biggest fan of tik tok, learning the dances and creating a story was a refreshing change to what we usually do.

P.E!
Cup Stacking -
I found the cup stacking really cool and different from other sports as it focuses on your hand coordination. To start off we had three stacks of three cups, the most efficient way of stacking the cups is to grab the top cup with your right hand and put it next to the cup stack, then take another cup off the top with your left hand and put it on top in the middle of the parallel cups. Then simply stack the piles of cups from side to side, when you finish stacking the last set of cups take your right hand and grab the top cup and put it on top of the cup on the right, then with your left hand grab the cup on the left and put it on top of the other to cups. After practice using this technique, you will get really quick at stacking the cups.
Table Tennis -
To start off we had to hit the ball against the wall 10 times in a row before we could move onto playing with another person. I found that you had to hit it higher up on the wall for it to bounce down into the right spot for you to hit it again. After completing the wall task I moved onto playing with a person on a full table which I found was a lot harder as my teammate would smack the ball off the table.
Juggling -
For juggling, we started off with scarves which were easier than juggling with balls but still challenging. We started off with juggling two scarves in one hand, then 3 in two hands, then 2 on each hand (4 scarves) To move onto adding more scarves we had to juggle the scarves 10 times without dropping them. I got up to the 2 scarves in each hand and juggled them 7 times but I found it really hard to juggle two in my left hand rather than my right.
