For this activity we have to write a summary about the book The Seven Stars Of Matariki.
The Seven Stars of Matariki tells the story of how these stars came to be in the sky. The main character is Mitai who is the youngest out of eight brothers who is gifted with the magical ability to change into birds. His seven handsome and conceited brothers are only interested in women as beautiful as they are. Their arrogance leads to their undoing.They end up falling hopelessly in love with seven mysterious women who marry them and turn them into their slaves. Mitai who is Concerned for his brother uses his magical abilities to turn into a bird and uncover their plan to starve their husbands ( his Brothers). Mitai rushes back to warn his brothers and then seeks help from Urutengangana the god of the stars to rescue his brothers and place the bewitching beauties out of the reach of men, in the sky yet once a year he allows the beauty of the patupaiarehe a chance to shine. Each winter the magical Wahine appear in the eastern sky the patupaiarehe Are today known as the seven stars of matariki.

I love hearing and learning about the different Māori legends throughout New Zealand, they fascinate me. You have written a great summary of the story that really illustrates the personalities of the brothers and their wives. I agree that the brothers arrogance was their undoing.
